I have managed to rip my down jacket and down is starting to spill out. Is there anywhere that I can take it to be fixed or any material to use to make a decent patch?

Up to now I have just been putting climbing tape over the rip and I was considering just whacking a big bit of gaffa tape on it, although it would be nice to get it patched up properly! Any tips?

listen to yourself! gaffers tape IS properly.

but if you want to take the other route, seam seal and a bit chopped out of the stuff sack will work.

Tent repair kit, perhaps?
In reply to leroybrown: it will cost you the best part of £25 to have it fixed professionally. go get a £5 roll of duct tape and be done with it.
In reply to leroybrown: Nice one guys

ripped my sleeping bag recently - stitched edges together and generous seam seal over the top for an ugly* but effective repair.

* you want ugly - makes you look hard
