Anyone who's actually there, or within sight of it-- please let me know what it's doing this arvo.

(Everyone else, there's no need to point me to the online forecasts, thanks: I know about them.)

In reply to Tim Chappell:
this is not a forecast it's live rainfall information based on a radar

Hopefully dry - my wife's supposed to be climbing at upper cave just now, and she's not returned home or texted to say she's bailed to Ratho!

In reply to Stuart S:

Thanks, Stuart, that's useful.

In reply to Tim Chappell: ha.
Its pretty nice in Perth, some blue skies trying to break through. It did rain here this morning but dried up. I would head up. Looks nice.

In reply to jamscoz:

Good omens... fingers crossed

Don't be coming on here with your techno wizardry. We are old skool, we believe in rain dances, omens and other such truths as told to us by our ancestors. Now feck-off.

In reply to JLS:

First-hand evidence is a lovely thing.
In reply to Tim Chappell: Chucking it down in Blairgowrie for last 20 mins.

You really should use the radar too. It not only shows you what is happening now but also how it is changing and has changed. Better than "first-hand".

Looking grimmer and grimmer here in Dee too.

In reply to MG:

I do use the radar, but as I began by saying explicitly, that isn't what I'm after on this thread.
 MG 05 Jul 2011
In reply to Tim Chappell: No you didn't, you mentioned forecasts. Radar isn;t a forecast.

Now, if you used the radar...

Literalist. As was perfectly obvious, I was asking those who could see with their own two eyes to report back. All clear now?

In reply to Tim Chappell: You are in no position to critize pendantry
Tim Chappell 05 Jul 2011
In reply to MG:

That would be "criticise".

OK, you lured me in... again...
In reply to Tim Chappell: Damp-ish but quite bright and not currently raining on the Fife Riviera Tim, if you need a plan B

In reply to MG:
Personally I find if you watch the animation on the rain radar you can sometimes get a much better guess on rainfall for the next few hours than the forecast.

BTW it is raining in dunkeld just now, I know that and I'm 600 miles south!

The radar's not always right, it says that we had rain for over an hour this afternoon but it's stayed dry.

Exactly. It says it's raining here now, but it isn't. Hence my original post.

Talking of which, what's it doing in Dunkeld right now, anyone who's actually there?

 Simon Caldwell 05 Jul 2011
In reply to Tim Chappell:

It's still dry in Wetherby if that's any help
Tim Chappell 05 Jul 2011
In reply to Toreador:

Thanks very much; it isn't in the slightest

In reply to Toreador:
The rain radar can quite often be wrong when light blue is shown or no rain is shown, in the former it may actually be dry and in the later it can be drizzling. When it shows heavier rain (as it was yesterday) it does tend to be raining.

Agreed. Only yesterday it wasn't raining here despite showing oranges and reds - the exception that proves the rule
