Hi all!

I've got an oldish Dawes hybrid that I commute on. It's got basic but serviceable handlebar grips and twist-shift gears.

In the last couple of days, the left handlebar grip has stopped being rigidly attached to the handlebars and come loose.

Two questions:
What normally keeps the grips solid? I'm assuming that they aren't attached to the shifter, so is there an adhesive layer or something?

Can I reattach the old grip (and if so, how) or should I replace it?

Thanks!

Busted. I'd had a quick google and found loads of content farms and yahoo answers type rubbish, but now I've gone back with a bit more patience, and concluded that they're pretty elderly and I might be best off just getting screw-ons to replace them entirely.

Hair spray works really well; spray a liberal amount inside the grips, slide on, wait to dry over night, job done.

...and has the added benefit of giving your grips, a glossy sheen that locks in the colour

it does work though
