Nick at the belay before the final hard pitch, 4 kbAlthough Andy Houseman's and Nick Bullock's 2011 attempt on Kyashar was unsuccessful, it still included some of the "scariest and most dangerous climbing" Andy has ever done.

Here he tells UKClimbing.com about his recent trip to Kathmandu and his attempt at, and subsequent retreat from, an unclimbed line on Kyashar (6769m), Hinku valley, Nepal.

In reply to UKC Articles: What is 'desk sized'? Is that bigger than a washing machine or smaller than a fridge? Great pics and article. Nice to know it's not just us punters that succumb to the mind freak of poor conditions (even if poor conditions and too much exposure to me would be a stroll in the park for you guys).

Quite, everybody knows that electrical appliances are the standard units for falling rock. Desk? I imagine he meant fridge.
