In reply to mikehike: Being so familiar with the Mallory/Everest story, the really interesting angle of the programme for me was his family (his wife Ruth and his son/daughters). I couldn't find out very much about their lives (apart from the facts that Ruth died of cancer, as did his younger daughter, and the husband of his other daughter died in a climbing accident), though it seems that his son John is still alive (?) would like to know more if anyone has any links/info.
