Please help me make an enjoyable climbing C.D for our pending journey up north next week. Thanks

Live another day - Dream Theater (live another day / climb a little higher / find another reason to stay)

Mountains - Manowar (I have no fear / death or glory / life's for the taking / and a man is a mountainside, greatness waits for those who try, just climb) (or something like that)

Movin on up - M people (guessing you know the lyrics to this one)
 Stone Muppet 05 Feb 2012

Meet on the Ledge- Fairport.
You could also add
Burning Rope - Genesis.
 Kane L. 06 Feb 2012
In reply to jackappleby: Red Hot Chilli Peppers - Scar Tissue
because of the chorus. Might be more for outdoor climbing unless there's pidgeons in the rafters.
 ThunderCat 06 Feb 2012
In reply to Kane L.:

How about the Rod Stewart classic "I'm abseiling...I'm abseiling...."

I've already got my coat.

Paradise Lost's 'No Celebration' starts with the line 'Take my hand, hurray for the winter's come.' One for that annual first sight of the plastered Buachaille from the A82.
 Andy Say 23 Feb 2012
In reply to jackappleby:
Well - you have got the band 'Mountain'. Who did an album called 'Climbing' as well as 'Twin Peaks'. Fits the bill?

Personally 'Wall of Death' by Richard Thompson does it for me.
 rustaldo 23 Feb 2012
In reply to jackappleby: not so much climbing.. but a song about rocks
Okkervil River - Stone
 subalpine 23 Feb 2012
 Martyn Frost 23 Feb 2012
In reply to subalpine:

I can't believe no body's came up with Sailsbury Hill; Peter Gabriel.

Also Squank; Genesis, is definately worth a listen to.
andyathome 23 Feb 2012
In reply to Martyn Frost:
Solsbury Hill is a bump outside Bath. Mr Gabriels agonising about whether to leave Genesis or not isn't really a 'climbing song'!

'South side of the sky' by Yes however is a full on delve into the psyche of someone caught out in a whiteout. I think.....
 Rob Davies 23 Feb 2012
In reply to jackappleby: I'm surprised no-one has mentioned some of the obvious choices from classical music:

Richard Strauss - An Alpine Symphony (a day out climbing in the Alps depicting sunrise, meadows, glaciers, storms, etc)
Mahler - the colossal 1st movement of his 3rd Symphony (working title: "What the mountain crags tell me")
Delius - A Song of the High Hills

On the pop music front the slab climber's choice Slip Slidin' Away actually has a climb named after it (Baggy, I think),
 Quarryboy 28 Feb 2012
In reply to jackappleby:
There's only one song which fits the bill:
