Does this still get done in the summer from the Argentiere hut? It sounds like rock on the lower wall and then snow on the ridge. Has anyone done it? I'm kind of intrigued and might give it a crack this summer if conditions look suitable.

In reply to MattG:

I THINK Jim Kerr did it some years back, though I could be mistaken. If no-one else turns up, you could try contacting him in Chamonix or via the BMG.

In reply to jon: Hi, I take it he's a guide then? Thanks for the info. It gets a good write up in some of the older books but it sounds like not many people do it nowadays. I was mostly concerned about what the rock section was like, whether it was seriously loose or mostly ok - the AC guide is a bit unclear, as usual

In reply to MattG:

I did it about 24 years ago, so the upper mixed/snowy part may have changed a bit. As far as I remember the rock to gain the ridge was pretty sound and enjoyablea and the upper ridge very fine. A great route!
