Hi all,

I am at southampton uni, just wandering if there are any crags nearby. I usually climb at swanage or portland but it is a bit of an arse to drive there if I only have an evening free. Anyone know of anywhere more local?

cheers,

Toby.

I too used to be at soton uni, and this, I'm afraid is pretty much as close as it gets...

How is soton nowadays, I've deliberately avoided it for the last 7 years!...

I live in same area, and there is nothing closer. Worth the trip for a weekend are Dartmoor, Gower, Peak. Portland evenings- if you leave Southampton at 5 you can get 2-3 hours in midsummer, but it is a drag. Calshot worth a visit for plastic antics- new wall section recently which adds interest. www.calshot.com

Sorry, that's it I'm afraid- anyone want to import some boulders to the New Forest?!

Southampton's thrilling as ever.... jesters still luring the uneducated. So thrilling in fact that I am beating my head in boredom while it pisses down outside. Calshot is cool but it can get a bit tedious especially with the belay spooks gawping over your shoulder every five minutes and 'last climb' called about thirty seconds after the wall opens!!

Wrong forum again i know, but is anybody hatching plans for climbing this week/weekend? I'm generally clean and well behaved. I own a length of cord, some shiny things and a pair of sporting plimsoles sporned by the devil himself.
