Please can someone who's been to Lofoten let me know about the following:

- gas. Screw top or pop on or both?
- mountain rescue. Is it 'free' or similar to alps?
- AAC. Related to above will AAC provide enough cover?
- Visa. Do they take it and are there cash machines, or better off with cash?

I don't want opinions, I need facts

Thanks v much

Rach

In reply to Batt: We went to Lofoten last summer - we bought screw on gas on the main street in Bodø with no problems, shops have similar opening hours to the UK. There's a couple of gear shops in Svolvaer which should also sell gas.

Credit card situation is pretty similar to the UK: cash machines everywhere except small villages, most places take Visa. Can't remember if Henningsvaer had a cash machine but there was certainly one in Svolvaer. It's a pretty civilised place!

To echo cat, both gas types available, card payment situation very much the same as here, no cash machine in hennigsvar (3 years ago). Don't know about MR situation.
