I'm going to need to put some bits in storage for a few months, including most of my rack and general clothes etc. So with the rack, the value is going to be about £4k ish.

My question is, a huge chunk of the cost is extra insurance through the storage places. Are you not automatically covered under their business insurance or similar? Is this just a way for them to make a few quid?

If not, can anyone recommend any cheap independant insurers?

Can't put it on house insurance as I won't have a house as such.

Cheers in advance for any advice,

Dave.

In reply to Dave 88:

I've just done this. My storage place charges £1 per week per £1000 in storage which will be £4/week for you. It's part of the business model.

There is one online place I found that charges 55p/£1000 which seems to be the only one available anywhere and a bit more reasonable. Can't remember the name but google it.

Some storage places insist on you using theirs. Mine don't.
