Thinking of heading to Morocco this winter (December). Got the WSW ridge of Jbel Toubkal in sight, was interested to see if any other members have climbed this, particularly in winter? Any info is greatly recieved; kit, conditions etc.

Thanks guys,

Dave.

In reply to greycarsdave: i am thinking of making a trip in winter too. booked onto a full winterskills/mountaineering course beforehand and currently putting together a list of gear. Ideally I want to camp with no guide but I know there are package led "trips" that do a xmas attempt at summit. However some people have complained that conditions are too harsh for the guides to often attempt it.

In reply to greycarsdave: This probably is not much help since I climbed it in summer ~12 yrs ago, haven't been in winter and my memory of routes I've climbed in notoriously bad.

No difficulty finding a bivi spot (Went from Marrakesh to about 3/4 of the way up the route in one day)

Would suggest the AD grade in my ancient guide was about right for summer.

Don't recall much loose rock on the route.
