Just booked a last minute trip to Kalymnos, and have remembered that I no longer have a 70m rope. Any suggestions as to where to get one in a hurry in Central London (it's a while since I've used the usual gear shops) or online would be appreciated.

This may be the wrong forum, but I've read a few reports of some new routes on Kaly being 40m, thus requiring an 80m rope. Sounds bonkers, but any thoughts?

Cheers

In reply to Nic: Urbanrock at the Westway would be your best bet.

In reply to Nic:

80m is definitely useful - a lot of the newer extensions need it

you'd be ok with 70 tho'

I'm guessing that the "extensions" are usually in the 8a and above territory? I won't be troubling those on this trip...

In reply to Nic:

Not necessarily
Some 7a-b on Panorama, Arhi, etc

check the new route list

Hey,
You will be fine with a 70m if you do, do an extension you can always get lowered to the belay before the extension and re-thread and ab off.

But you may find them difficult to resist... Good luck.

Possibly, but I suspect they will find it very easy to resist me!
