I am off to Red Rocks Nevada soon and would welcome recommendations for a reasonably priced motel or other that is convenient to travel to the climbing. Thanks in advance.

In reply to Scuffer: Bonnie Springs Motel/Zoo? is near the crags. You will need a car though. It has a restaurant/bar and the rooms are supposed to be self-catering, but they do not provide any cookwear. I think Albertsons is the nearest big grocery store nearby, towards Red Rock Casino. You'll be able to buy food and some cheap pans, plates etc. It is not the nicest motel, but it is cheapish and close to the rocks.

The casino rates tend to be better than straight motel rates; they're hoping to get your gambling business. The best rates are Sunday-Thursday, and they can double for Friday and Saturday. If some big event comes to town, like Nascar racing, the rates go through the ceiling.

One of the closest (usually reasonable) casinos is the Suncoast. Perhaps a step seedier but still fine, although further from Red Rocks is Arizona Charlie's.

You'll get more expert information on mountainproject.com and supertopo.com. Somewhere in their forums is a pretty extensive discussion about places to stay, but I just looked and couldn't find it...
