Can anyone suggest some good outdoor shops in Germany please?

I live in the city of Bielefeld, so would be willing to travel to Dusseldorf or Cologne, or other places nearby if that's where the shops are. Or a good online retailer would be useful for the future, though this time I want to buy a pair of shoes, so would prefer to be able to try them on first.

Before you say it, yes, there is an outdoor shop in Bielefeld, but it isn't particularly good, particularly for climbing. And I've found the website of Globetrotter.de, which has a Cologne outlet - they are better but still not as much range of stuff as I would expect in a good shop in the UK. But the local climbers here do seem to have a wide range of gear, so there must be some decent shops around somewhere ...

If anyone knows anything I'd love to hear it.

I third Berfreunde.de. I have also used both Bergzeit and outdoor24 (online retailers), the latter of which will nicely translate to English and also you can get a standard 10% off their prices if you pay up front using bank transfer.

I dont know your area but there must be a Sportsohn or a sportscheck somewhere.

Also the large sport shops in towns often have climbing gear - Dodenhof on the way to Bremen for example.

But generally I think the best/competent shops are in UK
