I've just watched this on the iplayer and yes it is yet more rubberneck TV but it did make me wonder how we as a generation have educated our kids in these matters better than any generation previously, sexual health is such a big issue. With so much education about STI's these days it is astounding to hear the shite that comes comes out of some peoples mouths.

The 17 year old lass who has already had sex with 20+ blokes and most of it unprotected. Her response when the interviewer asked about her worrying promiscuity? "Well I only go with blokes who look ok and never go with blokes who ain't from this country so I'm not too worried"

Manc lad has confirmed gonorrhea from a one night stand while cheating on his girlfriend "its not like proper cheating when you're drunk though is it"

I genuinely felt gutted for the bloke who tested positive for HIV but even then, after admitting having sex with someone who was HIV positive and having unprotected oral sex he claimed that he didn't know how he'd got it?

Ok so we've all had dalliances we aren't proud of but how have we created a generation that seems happy to play russian roulette when there is so much information, advice and free protection available?

Remember kids - no glove, no love

In reply to blanchie14c: I see it the same as smoking,, seems to my eye that more people are smoking now than 10 years ago (maybe exageration), certainly where I go out.
despite all medical evidence etc

Funny you should say that:

The guy who tested HIV+, (but was actually negative, false positive on the '30 minute HIV test'), was also in the Barristers series, (nutter who runs round biting people). So obviously there's a list of 'Britains biggest dross' that TV companies phone up for these series.

That said there's a hell of a lot of promiscuous unprotected sex going on, the stats bear that out. I think the attitude is whatever you get you take a pill and it's cured. AIDS is seen as a bit more problematic in that you take a lot of pills, (like diabetes, innit?, to quote one numpty in the program).

I remember talking to a family planning nurse about some of this a while back when I was sorting out contraception - she was saying that at the GUM clinic they were seeing a significant rise in STIs, not just amongst the young but also amongst a newly footloose and fancy free 50+ generation.

Nothing has ever changed as long as we have been doing it on this planet.

I thought that, but I have come to conclusion it is a conception. Used to be you could smoke everywhere, so smokers where fairly evenly spread out and you didn't notice them as much. However, since the smoking bans etc came in, all the smokers are herded together in one place, so en mass there looks to be a lot more than there really is.

In reply to blanchie14c: What I'd like them to answer is , are lesbians less prone to STD's than heterosexuals or gay men? Promiscuous or not.

If so, from now on I'm defiantly only having sex with lesbians!

Spot on. We think we are educating people properly but the sad fact is that the majority are ignorant drunkards. And before anybody jumps on me for writing that, let me clarify: most of Britain and probably the rest of the world is more fuelled on alcohol than anybody realises. It's not just cheap alcohol bought from superstores, it's home-brewed hooch as well. It happens at home so it's hidden, the public drunkenness we see in the streets is the tip of the iceberg.

You see, this is just the lax attitude to safe safe that the TV show focused on

In reply to blanchie14c:
I think the problem is mostly down to gang culture and the hip hop music that the kids today are listening to:

Rather than listening to sensible contraceptive advice in sexual health classes they are listening to MC Whatshisface talking about what he has been upto with some hoes and bitches; neither of which have any place in the process of safe procreation.

Also I hear that many young kids are dying in the ghetto due to some bad guys "Bustin' a cap in they ass", this is obviously not safe as you should really be using a Durex Extra Strenth for this sort of thing. The cap is most definitely not suitable for bum fun.

Look Al - there is absolutely no proof that Maggie Thatcher is lesbian
