so, who will it be?
Sam Worthington seems to favourite, Tom Hardy was my first thought, but me n my lad here reckon Idris Elba would be a very good shout. any thoughts?

In reply to ripper:

Hasn't Daniel Craig signed up for another two? That probably means four-five years before the decision needs to be made and I'm sure there'll be some new 'big' names around then.

I like Idris Elba but is he bond material? Clive Owen perhaps? Maybe he'll be too old.

If only Clive Owen could act. He's as wooden as this table I'm propping myself up on

taking a leaf out of the American's take on Sherlock with Lucy Lui as holmes, I'd nominate Gwyneth paltrow or Claire Danes as 'Jane' Bond
 graeme jackson 06 Nov 2012
In reply to graeme jackson:

Lucy Lui as 'watson'. DOH!

Jane Bond 0069 has already been done in the film: Licence to Thrill.
Her arch enemy was Pussyfinger...

What were the action sequences like?
In reply to ripper: Ain't going to be a change soon.

A more pertinent question is why hasn't Alan Rickman played a Bond villan yet?

No, it was the villain that was a cross between Blofeld and Oddjob….

Oddfeld, or something.

In reply to ripper: or if history repeats itself, and we go from a butch, physical, slightly rough around the edges Bond (Craig) to a more suave, upper-class english type in the same way that the role was passed from Connery to Moore... ladies and gentlemen, I give you...

Hugh Grant!

How about Ewan Macgregor?
Clean, smiley, happy. Polite. Respectable.
Everyone's favourite uncle.

And then he kills people and where necessary he leaves his friends to die, all the while being charming, smiley, happy.
I imagine with some good scripts he could appear a very scary and charming psychopath.
mountainsheep 06 Nov 2012
In reply to ripper: another vote for Tom Hardy, but only if he could be more brutal like in batman or Bronson, obviously not as extreme but just more brutal than past bonds.
OP ripper 06 Nov 2012
In reply to ollieollie: if you're going to object to details about james bond on grounds of ridiculousness, you're in trouble... that's a lot of objecting to work through!
mountainsheep 06 Nov 2012
In reply to ripper: Or maybe Damien Lewis, apart from he's ginger...

He would just do a Sean Connery impression.

Ginger or not, there's no way he'll get security clearance and a 00 licence after all that business with Abu Nazir. ;O)

Sorry. Although in my defence this is a significantly drool-worthy thread
OP ripper 07 Nov 2012
In reply to Ava Adore: maybe in the interests of equality we should have a 'most drool-worthy bond girl' thread too.... I'd like to propose Famke Janssen as Xenia Onatopp as an early title contender

In reply to ripper: outside be on that fella who's currently playing Spider-Man. Few years time his balls will have dropped and puberty will hit, I can see him playing the role when he's matured a bit.
