Does anybody have experience of shipping goods to the US?

It's a minefield of codes, declared value, insurance issues and customs regulations.

I have a quantity of wooden products I need to get to NY. They are the first of hopefully more shipments to a new company there but It mIght be that manufacturing is done there in the future. I think I could reasonably describe them as samples in order to test the market.

There are various websites offering rates for shipping but I need to speak to somebody who can steer me through.

Any reccomendations?

I ship to the USA sometimes, if it´s value is over $200 then you start paying duty/tax. You need to fill out an export declaration, my products are non-dutiable but I still need this.
There are loads of special rules and quotas regarding textiles so best of luck!
Normally the customs offices themselves are dead helpful, they´ve always responded promptly to questions even if actually getting the stuff through takes an age!
