... is there much demand for ski instructors nowadays? I'm an old git but a competent skier, and quite fancy passing on skills and so on... Is getting on the BASI ladder likely to be worth the effort and cash?

In reply to Rob Exile Ward:

As a BASI instructor, i'd say if you like teaching then give it a whirl. You'll struggle to make a living out of it, but I know a few people who spend acouple of evenings a week teaching at the snowdome just for the love and nominal pocket money.

However after a BASI course I found that I looked at my own skiing in a new light and went on to teach myself to be a better skier too.

In reply to Rob Exile Ward: have you had your ski trip now, Rob? Good?
In reply to andy: Bl**dy marvellous mate! Except I tried to keep up with firstborn on Saturday (he's 33 now, fit as a butchers' dog and skis like a demon) and have been hobbling around with a walking stick ever since. But it was worth it. Train worked well too, squeezed 7.5 days skiing out of a week off work.

(BTW haven't got your latest address otherwise you'd have had a card this Christmas.)
