We are thinking of heading to Argentina in October this year for some rock climbing and would like to do a couple of mountains. Has any one had a trip out there? What's the closest airport to the climbing. Thanks!

um... the argentinian andes cover about 2000 miles...! can you be a bit more specific about where you are going?

cheers

In reply to sip a cup: Piedra Parada looks like a good destination, have you climbed there?
In reply to sip a cup:

Sorry, no, not been to that bit of the country

October is early spring in s America, will be a lot of snow in the andes at that latitude, but it looks like you'd be away from the mountains so might be fine, others on here would probably know more

For rock - frey, valle encantado and los arenales are you best bet. Google them or pm me if you want more detail. Frey and Arenales are incredible. Also piedra padre for sport (see petzl trip 2012) although nothing particularly special their under the 7s. October is a bit too early for Frey and Arenales. Will be snow on the approaches.

Mountains, as in crampons and axes... El Chalten.
