Could anyone suggest a non-annoying way to do this. The first few google suggestions were pretty annoying...

Thanks - this is hopefully where UKC comes into its own.

You want to get an MP3 track from a Youtube?

Yep, please.

In reply to Jon Stewart:

Is the MP3 more easily available from a torrent site?

Its not that straight forward to get fromYoutube.

In reply to The Lemming:

Doubt it, think it would be very hard to find. If it's a total arse ache I'll look into it when I've got time I guess.

The way I did this was with a plug-in form FireFox. I only did it the once and haven't done it since. You hae to capture the YouTube and then strip out the audio.

It was a feking ball-ache.

Seriously, try to hunt down the MP3 on a torrent site.

In reply to The Lemming:

OK, ta. I thought it would be easy, never mind. Thanks though, way better than checking all those shitty arse-ware links off google.

ISO Hunt will filfil all your needs. Either search for the track you want or the album the track is part of.

It's an hour long mix by someone who has done an awful lot of mixes. It's quality, it's got stuff like Talking Heads, Isaac Hayes and Portishead all really nicely mixed.

Depends how much of a hassle a 'ball-ache' is?
Download a free 'You-tube' download programme eg. YTD Youtube Downloader
Download a free Convert video programme eg. Freemake Video converter

and use the second to convert your video file into an MP3, ie it just takes the audio data out and leaves the video behind.

Both programmes have their uses above and beyond this one application so are useful to have,
Just be careful of all the 'free' add-ons that a 'free' downloads brings with it.

ALTERNATIVELY; download a audio recoeding programme that records into MP3 from your soundcard eg. "Audio recorder for free"
and just play the video on Youtube and press start/stop where-ever needed.

I'm not an expert at this sort of stuff, but both methods work for me.

Thanks. Will give then first method a bash tomorrow.

G'night.

Seems to be working. Brilliant, thanks!

I wouldn't bother clogging up your computer with a programme - just use

http://www.video2mp3.de/

Thats the one I always use if I just want a single song rather than an album.

Why not contact the person who makes these mixes and see if they will send you just the audio as an mp3 file or something?

In reply to Blue Straggler:

One of the above solutions works fine. Mr Jaar is an international superstar DJ and probably wouldn't respond to my request!

Ah fair enough, I thought it might be some happy home hobbyist, given that you didn't give any clues as to what the source was, or a link to the clip.

I'll have a play with the one you seem to be having luck with.
