No time for a full blog post today, but some photos should appear soon on my Photo Gallery from an interesting day out with Dave on West Gully of Beinn Udlaidh..
Through the iced up approach to the coire, past the falling in a bog incident, overcoming the foot of fresh snow on rock base, dealing with the spindrift showers every ten minutes, a few hours after starting mission was accomplished. Things are forming nicely, but there's some funny ice about - there's a layer of older ice with a layer of snow on top then another layer of ice, like a snow sandwich, which kept breaking away at rather awkward moments...
Lots of ice formed on all routes, but of various quality, ranging from bomb proof water ice through good snow ice all the way to aforementioned sandwich ice.
Teams on Sunshine Gully and Central Gully.
Most lines looking 'there' but thin in places.
Glen Orchy road clear. (Well, it was earlier, but been snowing last wee while).
Beware of the pigs in the field at the bottom, one tried to eat my trouser leg!!!!
