Hi, I was walking on the path round Sàil Mhòr (Beinn Eighe) on Saturday 12th Jan when I twisted my ankle on a rock and sprained it really badly.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone I met on my 2-hr hobble back to the Ling hut, as you noticed me hobbling and made sure I had enough bandages, painkillers, etc before you walked on. I have to say, a combination of walking poles and co-codamol does wonders! Your concern and offers of first-aid kit were greatly appreciated.

It turns out I'd torn a tendon and a ligament in my ankle, and it's going to take a while to recover, which means I'm out of the hiking game for a wee bit, but at least I didn't break any bones, and I got back safely.

In reply to ZoeOConnor: Ouch!

Nice to hear there are still some genuinely nice folk out there.

Hang in there, you'll be back out soon enough, just don't rush it

Hard lucky, Zoe, hope you're healing well. Good to know there's help out there!

Take your time, do the physio, and you'll make a full recovery. The months will pass surprisingly quickly...
