In reply to millsy: Lost Campers operate out of LA and San Francisco, they offer the best rates on cheap camper vans that I've been able to find. You basically get the US equivalent of a kitted out VW transporter (Chevy astro van). This is the Big Boy class which I'm talking about and it comfortably sleeps two.
