Went it, didn't wait for African peace keepers to get their act together, cleared out Al Qaeda in 3 weeks from North Mali. Much to the happiness of the locals it seems.

Iraq was nice and quick too. Soon rolled over Saddam and then everything was sorted.

Fine as far as it goes. I wonder if the arseholes they've been chasing out of the Mali towns are the same as those that got chased out of Somalia.

The next step is to get the Mali Government into some serious negotiations with the Taureg who've been fighting a guerilla was with them since independence. If they can come to an accommodation with the Taureg then AQ in Mali are finished.

The very same way ISAF cleared them out of Afghanistan in the early 2000's. Al Qaeda aren't stupid enough to go toe to toe with a professional army. All that will happen is they melt into the desert and start a Guerilla campaign that will last another decade.

Probably the main reason Cameron doesn't want British troops there.
