Hi

People keep asking me, so thought I post it on the forum. Ella's climbing El Cap program is on tomorrow night at 5.45 on CBBC. Should also be on Iplayer soon after. Doc is very funny, moving and even a bit scary (not that anything scary happened) and is much more than a kids TV program.

Interview with Ella and more details on the BMC website here: http://www.thebmc.co.uk/my-life-ella-kirkpatrick-climbing-el-cap-yosemite-t...

Also micro website designed to direct kids who want more info on climbing http://ellakirkpatrick.com

cheers

Andy

In reply to andy kirkpatrick:
good show and keeping up the family tradition
In reply to koolkat: That was brill. One of the most accurate accounts of climbing in the media and it was broadcast on children's TV.
Cracking film.

Brilliant, well done Ella.

What route, Zodiac?

In reply to andy kirkpatrick:

Superb narration too. I think she's got a great future in television .

Surprising as Dad has a face for radio :oD

In reply to andy kirkpatrick: top prog, andy - will be making sure my two watch it. I remember chatting to you at a talk you did in bolton not long after Ella was born - we were comparing notes on nappies and bottle feeding - don't they get big quick?
 Milesy 12 Feb 2013
That was good. Narrated by a mind a lot older than the 13 year olds about here.

Tangerine Strip

In reply to andy kirkpatrick:

I have just watched it, great achievement for Ella and I thought a well put together half hour of TV, really good narration.

Perhaps more important than me liking it, my girlfriends 11 year old, loved it as well.

Cool, ta.
In reply to andy kirkpatrick:

I saw you and Ella talk at Kendal, she seemed as un fazed by a room full of several hundred hairy outdoor types as she did by El Cap.

Shouldn't that be Tangerine Trip, or have I missed something (probably, it did look very hot)?

In reply to andy kirkpatrick:

The girl did good! She must have arms like Popeye after all that jugging!

Well done Ella, great commitment.

In reply to andy kirkpatrick:

It was really very enjoyable to watch.

I was particularly impressed by the comment about twenty-one (ish) minutes in, where your daughter rather succinctly summarises the entire event - and anything remotely like it, but then plows on to a free climb finish. Gutsy lass.

Thanks for posting it.

You are probably right!

In reply to andy kirkpatrick: totally agree, a great show. usually I try and make sure when I see my daughter we stay clear of the TV, my mission is to return her to her mum tired, muddy and smiling, maybe this show is the exception.

Does Ella want to be the figurehead for my kids climbing gear?

+1, another Lecture in the North East Please Andy.

Really enjoyed My Life
In reply to andy kirkpatrick: Well done Ella. Well done Dad although you failed to catch her ipod! tut tut!

In reply to andy kirkpatrick:

Is it me, or did that program provide far more information than an equivalent would aimed at non-climbing adults?
 SCC 13 Feb 2013
In reply to andy kirkpatrick:

Just watched in iPlayer - really enjoyed it.

I'm not sure what was most amazing - Ella's performance (both in climbing El Cap and in front of the camera) or seeing Andy not talking!!

Cracking show - well done to all involved.

Cheers,

Si
