Surprisingly good article about Ondra by the Guardian / Observer.

Peter Beaumont (author of the article) has been involved in climbing for some time. Nit sure if he actually climbs, but he's reported on climbing stuff for >20 years now.

In reply to Dr Toph: According to a book I have published by the Guardian they have a long standing relationship with climbing and have published a lot of articles and stories about our relationship with rock, hill, crag and mountain.

Thanks for the link and agree about its quality.

Peter Beaumont writes very well indeed, although his usual specialism is foreign affairs. He admits to being a climber and a surfer. Both Ed Douglas and Jim Perrin often write climbing articles for the Guardian as well.

So not really that surprising I suppose.

Agreed, thanks for posting that link. I noted that he said "Today's hardest routes are far below the human maximum." I'm not in a position to argue with him on that one.

The article would have benefitted from some rather more rigorous subbing.

The Torygraph has been known to publish the odd intelligent climbing-related article as well.
