With the ever increasing popularity of the GoPro, it seems we're starting to see further and further in to the climbing scene around Britain.

I stumbled across this video and the fall is very scary, is this something usual that happens to most climbers at some point?

In reply to Snakea: Depends on the climber I suppose, but it has certainly happened to me.

If that's going to happen to me at some point then I'm going to start dragging around a bouldering mat.

That guy reckoned his cams were bomber.

Because the video says it is?

I reckon the problem with these lads is that their indicative of young peoples approach to climbing these days - No helmets, baggy jumpers, and an over reliance on cams - Tell me a nut would have popped in that situation?!
And then they have the guts to stick it online as if it's all one big "lol", complete with computer music and edits talking about wanting to "flash" it.
Send em up cloggy with just a rack of nuts and slings and see how they get on, i say..

What does it have to go do with GoPro? There are videos of falls going back decades to when video cameras needed back packs. I don't think the climbing world but just more is recorded - that can applied to anything or everything.

In reply to Valkyrie1968: yeah, nothing worse than baggy jumpers. No wonder he fell!
Nuts can fail too. I don't know if the placement was marginal or not and neither do you.
I'm pretty sure he'd be more than capable at cloggy too.

If you hope to get onto E6 (like these guys) it's an inevitability. If however you intend to spend your climbing career at more sedate grades, never truly pushing yourself or exploring your limits, you could go through your entire career without falling off. Your choice...

I fall off plenty...however, I do plan to go my entire career without hitting the ground
