Little spring update from Vallee Blanche:
The Jager couloir bergschrund has collapsed from the middle, so if you are planning on climbing up there, prepare for some tedious climbing. A week and a half ago it was almost too good to be true, we could just skin up into the couloir!
Today my friend left a little rucksack down on Vallee Banche with a static rope, two link cams and a mini rack of nuts. All stolen from inside the rucksack while he went up Macho couloir. This makes me sad as I often leave extra gear, skis etc below the climb, in Chamonix as well as elsewhere.
By the way, great firm spring snow skiing at the moment here. And you can still ski all the way down to the Montenvers stairs.
