The previous long-running thread under this title has finally been archived, so here's a new one to get us restarted.

My contribution is this, which thanks to comments has taught me what bokeh is. http://www.flickr.com/photos/8411024@N08/8692750282/

Lovely chaffinch by the way, they're really so colourful aren't they.

In reply to Pursued by a bear:

I would reply, but it appears that the Flickr uploader system is currently down (I was about to add something from Saturday).

Btw, the poor Chaffinch isn't the first thing you notice in that shot (despite it being a nice sharp image of said birdie), it's the damn bokeh.
Me being me, I'd have just taken a picture of that curiously scratched branch and the eerie, unsettling bokeh field behind it...!
But that's just me!

yep - Flickr is well broken tonight...

Ok, in lieu of getting anything new up on Flickr, here's something I really like from exactly a month ago.

"Tell me about last summer" http://www.flickr.com/photos/drupka/8606332657/

"Lifeforms" immediately below it was taken the same day, and is among the very few shots that I've ever felt really happy with regard to its composition.

In reply to mole2k:

Nice idea (more crazy bokeh blobs!) plus Square format is good
Did you take a version without the tree trunk in the frame?
Personally, I think it would work better as a composition just as the flowers in the foreground and the distorted OOF stand of trees in the background, but hey, that's just my opinion

In reply to PontiusPirate:

That actual shot is 3 vertical shots stitched horizontally to get a narrower dof. The first 2 shots stitched or even probably by themselves would be without the tree trunk!

I could almost rename this old one "A Bokeh Of Barbed Wire"

Nothing to report this week but here's a nice bokeh shot from 2007 that I had to use to prove a point to a certain former regular poster on this forum who was not as clued up as he thought he was

Really like the negative space in the second one. Great composition.
