Have DMM and Wild Country completely changed harness lines?

Looks like it, seems odd that they have overhauled theirs at the same time. Look totally different, loops have all gone soft, stitching has changed, not as beefy. Wild country have at least changed their names while DMM's renegade looks anything but. Have they both changed factories in china or something?

They're getting harder to distinguish from my singing rock at home (this is not a slight but they've become a little similar to other brands). I quite like the look of the eclipse though, maybe if it hard moulded gear loops, I dunno.

is the stitching really that different?

I suspect they have just trimmed the harness back a bit to make it lighter (which is the trend for harnesses at the moment)

The two issues I have with my 2011 renegade is leg loop elastics slip and the leg loop webbing wears quite badly around the buckles (much more so than many other harnesses I've had)

I don't know about now, but Singing Rock make a huge number of the harnesses sold under other names. I think that's were the last generation of DMM harnesses were made. The last generation of WC ones were made in China, I think for the first time - I noted it in this review from '08 http://www.ukclimbing.com/gear/review.php?id=1538

In reply to CurlyStevo: Fair play, not all that different.

In reply to FreshSlate: re: DMM, there's a video from the ISPO 2013 show with some details on the Renegade revamp. Front gear loops now go up at the front instead of down - apparently stops your gear ending up in your crotch when climbing.
