I know wild camping in Germany is forbidden, but is it possible in the Bavarian alps?

I was thinking high up, away from any farms, lift stations, pitch late leave early sort of thing.

If people saw you late on would they likely report you? is it that sort of forbidden.. like a big social no no..

In reply to IainRUK:
Camping is permitted in the Alps if it is required by the route, there is no clear distinction between bivouacing and camping. In the forest areas the forester has considerable legal powers but the hunters not, you can be fined.
Outside the forests it is normal trespass, normally the farmers are quite tolerant miles up in the hills. Generally it doesn´t seem to be a problem.
In reply to jimtitt: Thanks, it would be a very small, 1/2 man tent.. I was thinking Mittenwald area. As I have a race there soon. Thanks
