Preparing for my first Alpine peak

I would like to start mountaineering.
I am a sport climber and have climbed waterfall ice.
How do I make the transition to climbing some decent Alpine peaks.
I was thinking of some training at Glenmore lodge this winter.
Am I sane to climb my first one in the winter or should I wait till next summers?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
