In reply to Steve Crowe:

One thing that I have always wondered,

If Bill and I had not done the routes in 1980-82, how long before anybody else would have put in the effort?

I always had the feeling we had no competition, just Ed Rob and Al doing the second ascents of BA and Fast + before the chalk had washed off. I don't think they tried any new lines but knew if I could get up so could they!

I think Big George Smith was the first to repeat everything in 1984.
He certainly could climb easily everything I could manage. He went to do Footless Crow the day after he dragged me up Supernatural when I told him I'd done FC yesterday.
