I want a new shell; light, stretchy, breathable, waterproof.

Multi-use (MTB, Skiing, walking, climbing). (I have a bomb-proof heavy duty winter coat for Ice climbing already)

Suggestions/ recommnedations please......

In reply to blurty: Patagonia stretch element, though my version didn't have a snow pelmet but it wasn't too much a problem so long as you don't fall over!

I was in the same boat as you a couple of years ago. Already got a bombproof proshell for winter and was looking for something a little lighter to wear when not winter climbing.

I plumbed for the Patagonia Stretch Ascent which I'm very happy with but I don't think they make anymore.

So I don't have any jacket recommendations but personally I would be looking at the 2.5 layer gortex type stuff rather than the 3 layer as you want something that will be different to your Ice climbing Jacket. There are loads of jackets about for you to choose.

The Neo jacket I have has a "softshell" like feel, it's not rustley at all

I'd recommend it to anyone, it's a great jacket.

Marmot..hasn't got a name in it, unfortunately, but it is stretchy, big pitzips, nice hood.

Another vote for Rab neo stretch. Forget goretex or event, it is the only breathable material that has ever worked for me. Not enormously stretchy, but enough to help movement a bit more.

Seems like a replacement for the aspira. What's it like heatwise? Is it actually close fitting?
