Following on from the success of events in years gone by we are delighted to be holding The Ice Factor's first 'Festival of Ice'. The event is designed to be a weekend dedicated to the weird and wonderful world of winter climbing. With competition, lectures and master classes it is set to be a fantastic weekend.

On the Saturday 2nd November we will be holding a Drytooling Competition which will be held here at the centre utilising the indoor walls, outdoor climbing tower and of course the indoor ice wall.

That evening we will be hosting a lecture given by Simon Yearsley about new routing in Scotland after which there'll be a party here in the centre.

On Sunday there will be a series of Masterclasses held by Dave MacLeod. Dave will also be giving a lecture in the afternoon.

Aside from being about fun and sore fore arms the event is going to be held in aid of Climbers Against Cancer with a portion of the entry fee going directly to the charity.

Entry for the competition will be £25 (£15 entry fee, £10 to Climbers Against Cancer).

This has the makings of an amazing event and we hope that you'll come and get involved whether it be competing, spectating or attending a lecture.

For more information please go to www.ice-factor.co.uk/festivalofice or call us here at the centre on 01855831100

Good morning all! The Festival of Ice finally upon us. The guys here have been beavering away for the last month to bring you the very best event they could. The whole thing is being held in aid of CLIMBERS AGAINST CANCER. So here's a reminder of what to expect this weekend.

On Saturday we will be holding a dry tooling competition. We're down to our last 10 spots now so if you're planning on entering make sure and get it done ASAP. If you've already entered don't forget you need to be here at 8:30am for registration.

If you aren't competing then why not pop down to watch. The heats kick off at 9:30 and the finals at 16:00, they are definitely something to see!

On Saturday night we will be hosting a lecture by Simon Yearsley entitled "New routing in Scotland, in out of the way places". The lecture will be free to enter, all we would ask is for a donation to CAC.

At 9 o'clock following Simon's talk there will be a massive party here in the centre. All are welcome.

For those of you who haven't partied too hard on Sunday we will be opening up the routes for people to try in a non competition setting. Entry for the day is £15 which will cover both the dry tooling and ice routes.

On Sunday afternoon Dave MacLeod will be giving a talk about his recent trip to the alps along with a few of his other adventures. Again it is free to enter but a donation for CAC would be nice.

So as you can see we have a great line up for you all! A whole weekend dedicated to the weird and wonderful world of winter climbing and all for a great cause. See you this weekend!
