how do u attach your DMM choke gold leash to your axe? is there a certain way to do it or does it not matter? cheeeers

Overhand knot, fairly close into the axe so you can't get a loop over the adze/hammer by mistake. Getting the length spot on is the tricky part.

With a wire gate so that you can put it on for cutting steps and such but have it off for walking when you want to switch hands often.
