Axe Grip Tape

Can somebody suggest a tape I can use for my axes which will do the same job as Petzl/DMM grip tape and I can pick up out of B&Q/Homebase?
Would 2m of tape give decent coverage of 2 axes?

Self amalgamating tape. One roll will be more than enough.

For reference :
I bought 3m of "Self Fusing Silicone Tape" from B&Q for £6.98. I had enough to half wrap the shafts of both axes (as much as I wanted) and then decide to redo the first one. Seems to have done the job.
