I am sure this topic has been covered to death but I am planning 10 days in Font (start of May) and due to not having access to a big car we are trying to book a Gite.
So my question is this.... Which one can you recommend? there will be 4 of us going and would like to know your thoughts and suggestions please.

Cheers in advance

clos du tertre gets fave reviews on Tripadvisor - I'm about to book it for July for the family - Gite or B&B 20 mins walk from Trois Pignons

We're staying here this summer:

Close to Cuvier and Apremont, plus it has a tennis court.

I recently had a look on the airbnb website for stuff around Font, and there were a few good looking options on there.

The best choice, run by climbers for climbers, Neil Hart is well known in the Font community.

This would have been my first choice unfortunately they're fully booked.

I stayed here a couple of years ago - http://www.ownersdirect.co.uk/france/FR1970.htm

It's a wee bit further south than would be ideal, and it's a bit on the old/quaint side, but it has everything you'll need and is still not too long a drive to the main areas. It's also got a games room in the basement which would have been ideal for passing any rainy days (if we'd had any) and also kept my kids entertained in the evenings.

Also - a number of the campsites have mobile homes you can rent, which might be easier to get hold of short notice, and would still get you round having to take camping stuff?

La Musardiere (Milly-la-Foret - close to the boulders) does, as does Le Lido (a touch south of Fontainebleau, I've forgetten the town).

In reply to Stuart S: Cheers for that, i've emailed the owner to see if its available. (I think the tale tennis won it)

Hostel in la Chapelle La Reine, within walking distance to Larchant sites (Elephnat, Dame Juoanne, Simonet); easy access to Buthiers (direct bus) or 3-Pignons: contact@fontaineblhostel.com

We just came back from staying here last week, I was a bit worried it was too far away but its actually not that far to most areas and also has a great bakery and supermarket near by so makes things easy on the catering front. The gite is lovely and has a garden, lots of hot water etc.

Gite Arbonne is the one for me. Gorgeous setting, really individual, super friendly owners. We've stayed there three times now and wouldn't go anywhere else.
