Portuguese whipping or the monkey's fist, depending on mood. Double fisherman's gets me going too.

I like using the Tarbuck Knot, unfortunately it is not much use for climbing any more.

In reply to your question, it may be the French Prussik, traditionally they are quite good in this area.

the Alpine Butterfly and Clove hitch have a special beauty, simple and brilliant.

Zeppelin Bend.

If we're restricting ourselves to knots actually used in climbing, then I find the non-nonsense robustness of the double fisherman's and the elegance of the alpine butterfly rather appealing.

The Chris Tan Death Knot. I get an erection like a hanged man every time I tie in with one...

Hah. Anyone who uses a CTDK ought to be bloody well hung...

I'll go with Alpine Butterfly.

I've reluctantly come around to the view that a simple overhand loop is actually better in almost every way, but still use the AB because it's just so pretty.

For equalising belays, the Alpine Butterfly is by far superior to an overhand knot.

The 5-strand star knot is the sexiest knot, I reckon. Pentagonal and with rotational symmetry. Check it out on Google images. Takes a while to learn how to tie it, though.
