On the side of my Nexus 7 are four copper contacts. There is no obvious means of attaching anything at this point like a USB socket. Can anyone tell me what they're for. Can't find anything in the hand book.

They are pogo charging contacts. Makes using a dock (which I assume will be released in the future) much easier because it can charge just by making contact instead of using the micro USB port.

They're contacts for an unreleased docking station.

Since you can buy wireless chargers for less than £5, a dock would not seem very useful.
