Hi
meant to be going climbing next week in the Lakes area,
Just wanted a few ideas where would people recommend

Trad upto E1 ish , or Bouldering

Mate is staying near Penrith but can drive other places

Guide books we have are Lakes bouldering , Boulder britain , lake district rock (FRCC Guide 2003) , easy scrambles and easy climbs in Lake district.

Prefer not to have much walk in unless its really special : )

In reply to Chris Aston:

Totalitarian - Raven Crag Thirlmere. Castle Rock is opposite so could easily do routes on both.
Borrowdale - Black Crag (if the 30 minute UPHILL walk in doesn't put you off) Mortician, Raindrop.
- Shepherds
- Quayfoot Buttress - Mandrake
- Falcon Crag - a bit friable. Illusion is good.
- Goat Crag - Praying Mantis

The best venue is probably High Crag, Buttermere - Philistine is superb and lots of other good HVS/E1s eg Samson, High Crag Buttress. Unfortunately as the name suggests you have to walk to get there ... and it's uphill.

In reply to Chris Aston: Probably about a hundred extremes you could do in a day - or so I've been told!
