My pals have had a 'mare with the weather in Saas, and we are looking for options. I take it even lower routes like this also have a lot of snow on them?

Anyone know for certain?

dunno if this is of use, but I was in Kandersteg & the path below the north face of the Eiger last week and there were snow patches down to 2600m - I suspect there will be some snow on the Bochette which they'll need crampons/an axe/a rope for. Switzerland got a huge dollop of rain last week which caused the rivers to burst banks and a fair bit of rockfall so bear that in mind.
