Just visited Dorset and tried to get to Battleship Edge. RockFax directions seemed fine - path from Reap Lane to coast path, R 10-20 m then path started down the edge into an obvious hollow ... and then it was all land-slippage . Straight down was impossible, and left or right looked v v dangerous - real risk that everything would just slip down a blind drop of at least 20m. Have done many hairy descents to crags but this was simply too dangerous - impossible to see where you should go, with the ground totally unstable above big drop. No other ways down we could see. Has the descent path just slipped away, or did we miss it somehow? If we missed it, could someone provide cleaerr directions for the non-local?

Search the threads on this. Land slip happened earlier this year and wiped out approach. Now you decend further to the left than the original descent. Directions in other threads.

Thanks SM. Shame there's no update on RockFax, or any other access websites; don't normally expect to do a forum/thread search before going to a crag. Blacknor Central was good instead, but it cost us about 1.5h of wasted time when we were only catching 3h of evening sunshine.

The UKC page is pretty clear...?

OK - that is pretty clear.
Looking forward to climbing there when next in Dorset.
Thanks SM and JE

Yeah would have expected an update on Rockfax by now...all part of the fun! To be honest its probably an easier descent now and gets you to the Block/Back Cliff just as quick.
