This came up on Facebook this morning, via Wonrek's feed - Robert Young is running 367 marathons on 365 consecutive days (mostly in a kilt!), to raise money for charity, and he hardly seems to be breaking a sweat! There was something on the Ultrarunning Community page about him being a 'person of scientific interest' at the way he's taking all this in his stride (if you'll pardon the pun).

Here's a link to his page: http://www.marathonmanuk.com/
And his FB page: http://www.facebook.com/marathonmanuk

That's an amazing story, to just get off your sofa and start running 26 miles everyday. I'm curious how he's managed it financially bearing in mind he has a family and lives in London. Good on him though!

The Daily Mail article I read (here: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2739680/My-father-molested-sister... mentioned that he gets up really early (middle of the night!) to do most of his 'daily' marathons before heading off to work managing a specialist car parts company. The idea of putting in a full day's work after running a marathon makes me feel even more feeble!
In reply to Tall Clare:

Jeez! I didn't think he could go up in my estimations, and he just has. I really hope he does it.

2:45am? Crikey. Wonder what time he goes to bed? Some people manage on an impressively tiny amount of sleep, even without that amount of running.

And all the more impressive that he's just doing laps of the same track! I'd definitely need some variety.

He's ex military who'd represented GB at duathalon and triathlon so not quite "off the sofa".

Incredible to be doing it and holding down a job/family life. It's a pretty full on life he's had.

Lordy... Are you still keeping up with your running?

In reply to Clauso:

Yes! I have my first 10k race tomorrow - eek!

Good on you, and good luck!... I've just recently managed to splutter my way back to 5kms again, having been injured for a while. I'll have to work on the 10km next.

I've got to the point where I'm quietly confident that I'm not going to die...

I'm still trying to get to that point. Every kilometre

I've met this guy a couple of times at races over the summer. These races have not been your 'average' marathons, they have been brutal offroad sufferfests!! Fair play to anyone who can do those back to back!!

I can sort of understand the running, it certainly isn't easy, but if you are well conditioned and take it easy pace wise relative to what your normal marathon pace would be, it's not going to be too bad. Doing it on top of a full time job and a family and seemingly on very little sleep is pretty amazing.

I chatted to him for a short time during the Race to the stones, a fairly hilly 62 mile ultra in July. The ultra was tough enough, but to have done a marathon the day before and have one lined up for the following day as well is pretty amazing, especially as I struggled to even walk the following day!

Let's hope he completes his challenge and gets his name in the record books.... He certainly deserves it!
