Forgive me if this has been posted before but I couldn't find it.

The Nose and the north face of the Drus were also achieved using blocks of 2x4 for protection.

The similarities end here, though...

Having lead routes on wooden gear I can definitely say that is not how it should be done! I'm slightly perplexed as to why he wasn't attempting to jam it, it didn't look too wide?

And if only there was a better, easier way of protecting wide parallel cracks than manufacturing your own home made wooden blocks.

Because getting hit in the face by a car jack hurts a lot more than getting hit in the face with a bit of wood?
