Can anyone recommend a south lakes trail run around 10-14 miles long that's reasonably close to a main road?

We're planning to head to grizedale in the morning and do the half marathon course but I'm unsure how icy the roads might be getting there.

We're coming from barrow and Kendal so somewhere convenient for both would be ideal.

Any recommendations are welcome.

Whitbarrow Scar. Park up near Gilpin Bridge then follow the track past Raven Lodge and up on to the scar. You can work your way out on to the edge of the scar above the obvious crag of White Scar and then follow it all the way round. Unlikely to be icy as it's on grass and limestone.

Cheers for the recommendation. It turned out that the roads were all okay and we did a 12m loop through grizedale. I'll keep it in mind for next time though!
