Having just read a great tip (among many) by David Coley to mark your wires and racking krabs by colour to speed up re-racking at belays, I'm looking for a suitable method of painting my krabs. My current solution is a few cans of Plasti-kote spray enamel (obviously covering up the gate mechanism first) - any better ideas before I go ahead and do it?

I use coloured tape. Quicker and easier to apply and lasts a good time.

Tuff Tags? http://www.toughtags.co.uk/

I was thinking of getting some off these.
Not yet decided if worth it or not.

That looks even better than coloured tape, although I've never (yet!) climbed with someone who uses the same colour coding as me!

I use reflective tape, no one else I've climbed with has reflective and if you're finishing in the dark they are easy to find. In fact I need another couple meters, check ebay out.

I use them, they're great

I use reflective tape too. The good quality ones, which will stay on for long.

But the question is about re-racking at belays, but the size are generally colour coded by the manufacture? Who has who's gear is for after the climbs...

All my gear is toughtagged in bright yellow, which is great for spotting dropped items. The nuts are split into small, medium and large so to speed up re-racking I have added a strip of red tape to the medium nuts and their keeper. No need to mark up the small and large nuts.

http://people.bath.ac.uk/dac33/high/4Gear.htm#slingdraws - scroll up a tiny bit. The general idea is that you mark all your small wires in, say, yellow, and all your large wires in red. Second gets to the belay and can easily sort the rack out without having to properly look at each wire, and without having to know how you like things racked. I think it's a brilliant idea.

I didn't even think of tuff tags (despite being well aware of their existence) - but I do like the idea of a big, solid-coloured krab over a small stripe.
