Coming up on July 10-12th in our village of Les Angles is what is probably the worlds toughest Ironman competition. http://site.altriman.com/
If you like this sort of suffering why not come out to the Pyrenees and try it. 3800m swim in Lac de Matermale in the semi dark at 1600m altitude followed by 200k bike ride with 5000m of climbing. In case you haven't had enough you can enjoy a marathon with another 720m of ascent.
I watched the first edition a few years ago from a local bar, not knowing the route or distance and thought that even I could run that fast! I doubt that I would be even walking at that point.
If any of you keen Triathletes fancies it I am happy to help out with advice.

Looks amazing. I'll add it to the list of good ones to do.

Hardest, surely the Norseman which has over twice the climb on the run and a swim start off the back of a car ferry into a fjord 13-15C (and if you can't do the swim in under an hour you're against the tide).

Pyrenees seems far more civilised though as you can have a proper celebration for finishing without asking the bank!

Cheers
