Hello,

With a bit of luck I'm off to Lauterbrunnen in Switzerland for 5 weeks with work. You probably hate me right now but I would very much appreciate any advice on where to go bouldering. I will do as much other stuff as I can whilst there but some days I will be alone and I will boulder.

Thanks for your time. Keep climbing!

I'm not really familiar with the bouldering in Switzerland, but there is this guide suggesting the Sustenpass and Grimselpass, both maybe an hour by car from Lauterbrunnen, maybe a bit more.

The Sustenpass bouldering is in the UKC logbooks as Sustenpass Boulders:

Lots of low level sport climbing nearby, Lehn, wilderwill and some in Laut valley itself. More being opened all the time.

I am sure you will meet someone to climb with, ask at the climbing shops.

There is even a local climbing club who meet in a bar once a week in the valley.

As rirs says the best bouldering is possibly on the granite but there must be some limestone or schist nearer.

Never mind the climbing, what job is that and how do i get it?

There's no bouldering as such in the valley, as in standalone rocks laying about, but there's climbing to be had at the base of the cliffs. A few caves here and there but you'll have to explore as i wouldn't know how to point them out, and some good stuff at the very end of the valley below the sport climbing crags. It's all limestone round that area, so you'll have to travel for the 'proper' boulders

I was in Susten pass last summer and it is well worth a visit. However getting to it could be a problem as it is pretty high and I am 90% sure it will have snow on it till at least late march so the road may not be passable. It is a good hours drive from LB. If you get bored just go and get pissed in the Horner pub, The BASE jumpers hang out so there is normnally something stupid going on plus alot of us climb. If going soon I suggest you go skiing in Wegen and check out the north face of the Eiger. It is a stunning place so enjoy.
