Does anyone know if Cairngorm (or other places) have done away with the 'single uplift' ski mountaineering passes they used to do? Can't see any reference on the websites.

They still do it but don't shout about it. £10 to you sir.

In reply to OwenF:

Yes they still do it but don't advertise it. It allows you two uplifts of your choice, but the norm is the Car-Park T BAr followed by a quick carry up to the M1 Poma which deposits you at the Ptarmigan Restaurant. (Don't catch the Coire Cas T Bar for a short section and then jump off so you can ski down to the M1 Poma or the 'Liftee's' will give you a bollocking)

That helps actually as I wasn't sure which lifts were most efficient!

Thanks, i'll keep it on the low down

09:00 is the first lift. But get to the ticket office as early as possible as the que really builds over the wkends

In reply to OwenF:

The Cairngorm one is a waste of money IMO. By the time you've queued and used their antiquated tows to get you somewhere not very useful you could have skinned up to 1141.

You can get a climbers ticket on Aonach Mor. Don't know if they do one that takes you to the top once.

Just to say, the Cairn Gorms are the worst touring option right now. There is much more snow to the west.

Thanks for all the advice.

I'm coming round to the idea of going west. Need to find something fun which the GF can not get too scared on!

In reply to OwenF:

Plenty at Aonach Mòr which has about a thousand times the amount of snow Cairn Gorm does. Glen Coe is also good. Away from the lifts, the Grey Corries and Glen Coe areas are good. Drumochter and Ben Alder also excellent.

go near meggy. Start at roughburn, walk to 650m on pt913m, ski off the back to north thrn turn east to the col. Skin up to north top pt1043m then east to col. skin up yo meggy suumit then great run down moy corrie to about 2km from the road.
Was great last weekend, gorms is a deadloss, annochs and grey corries even better than meggy.
